To celebrate this exciting news we are going to have dress up days this upcoming week! 

  • Monday-  Game Day- Wear your favorite team’s gear or blue
  • Tuesday- School Spirit Day- show your school pride
  • Wednesday- Quacky Day- Mix-Match Day
  • Thursday- Dress up Or Dress Down Day- fancy or comfy clothes you decide
  • Friday- Superhero Day- Wear your Finn’s Mission cape, dress like your favorite superhero, or wear red

Pleasant Ridge Art Club

The PR Art club for 2nd graders featuring a ceramic tic tac toe game will meet for our Winter/Spring 6-week session each Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm on the following dates:   

Feb. 6, 13,20,27; Mar 6,13

A reminder notice has gone out to those students participating in this session.

PTO Meeting: Our next PTO meeting will be Wednesday, February 12th at 6pm in the PR cafeteria. Everyone is welcome! We will have Valentine’s treats and activities for the kids.

MLK PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

Please make plans to come out and enjoy some music by Greater Clark’s hard working 2nd graders!

Our 2nd grade performance of “I Have a Dream” to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be happening this Wednesday, Jan. 22nd. The evening performance will take place at 7:00 in the gymnasium of Charlestown High School. All 2nd grade performers will need to be in the performance area by 6:50pm. We had a generous amount of donors that allowed us to provide t-shirts for each student!  Please make sure that your student wears their shirt to the performance that evening, there is no other specific dress code. 

During the school day on Jan. 22nd the 2nd graders will be taking a field trip over to the high school to rehearse. If you have any questions about the rehearsal or the performance, please reach out to Mrs. Flynn: jflynn@gccschools.com 

DRAMA TEAM

Drama Team members have received a yellow information sheet that needs to be returned by January 23rd. If your student did not receive one please contact Mrs. Corder. Emails will be sent weekly to update families on rehearsals

KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE

GCCS elementary schools will hold a Kindergarten Open House for 2025-2026 kindergarten students on Thursday, January 23rd. Incoming Kindergarten students must be 5 years old before August 1st, 2025

Families are invited to come and meet our staff and tour our building during the Open House.  To spread our visitors across the two hours more evenly, we ask that students with the last names of A-M come between 5:00-6:00 PM and students with the last names N-Z come between 6:00-7:00 PM. Visitors do not need to be there at the beginning of each time frame or for the entire hour. Please use your scheduled hour as a window of time to visit our Open House.

Good evening PR Family!

 

We hope you all have stayed safe and warm during the snowy weather. Please remember to check our social media pages and the GCCS social media pages for updates about closures/delays this winter season. We are looking forward to seeing our Pirates and having a successful Q3! 

 

2ND GRADE DRAMA TEAM NEWS! 

Get ready for some drama at PRES this semester! Second graders are eligible to join the Drama Team sponsored by Mrs. Corder- Drama Team forms will go home on the day we return to in-person learning. The new deadline for returning forms will be Wednesday, January 15. However, please note that registration is limited to the first 40 students who return their forms. The sooner families return forms, the more likely the student will be able to join the team. The first 25 students to return forms will have individual speaking parts. 

The remaining team members will have speaking parts as part of a group. 

 

Drama Team will meet on Thursdays, January 30-March 6 after school until 4:30 p.m. There will be a school-day performance on March 13 for students only, and a family performance on March 13 at 5:30 p.m. as part of the PRES Talent Show.

PTO Meeting – The next PTO meeting will be Wednesday January 15th at 6pm in the PR cafeteria. We will be reporting back on the holiday shop and discussing ideas for a winter family night activity.

ESS ART CONTEST

Calling all artistic K-12 students: Are you ready to let your imagination run wild? ESS is thrilled to invite you to participate in the 2025 ESS Art Contest. To enter, fill out the web form at artcontest.ess.com and submit an original drawing, painting, or digital piece based on the topic: “Imagine going to school in a zoo—what would your day be like?“

 

Winning students from four grade groups will receive a $500 American Express gift card, plus $500 for their school!

Submissions must be received by Sunday, February 23rd at 8:00 pm Eastern Time. An ESS panel of judges will score each piece based on the following criteria: Artistic skills, Creativity and originality, Relation to contest theme, A unique and novel approach to the artwork and title, Technical skill by grade level, and Adherence to the contest rules and requirements

We hope you have had a great winter break! Tomorrow, Monday, January 6th students will be following an Asynchronous eLearning schedule for our first day back from winter break! Please make sure to check emails/apps that your student’s teacher uses for daily communication so you will be aware of assignments and will be able to complete attendance forms. 

We are excited to announce that our school is participating in the Kids Heart Challenge, kicking off on Tuesday, Jan.7th!  It’s time for you to sign up your student to become an official Heart Hero.

2ND GRADE DRAMA TEAM NEWS

Good Evening PR Family! 

This is the last week of school for quarter 2! Winter Break will be December 23rd- Jan.3rd. We will see students back on Monday, January 6, 2025.

For parents who have children with IEPs: Progress reports for your child’s IEP goals will be available to view through the EdPlan Connect platform, which is a secure place to access student records online.  You should receive an email from noreply@pcgus.com with instructions on how to access the documents.  If you have any questions or would like a printed copy, please contact your child’s Special Education Teacher or Speech-Language Pathologist.  

LOST and FOUND ITEMS 

Please remind your student(s) to check the lost and found area for any items they may be missing. This Friday, December 20th all items that are left in the lost and found after school will be donated to local charities. 

PTO NEWS 

Holiday Shop – The PTO will be hosting a holiday shop this coming week (December 16-20) where students can come in and purchase gifts for family and friends. Students will shop during their art special area. All items are $2 each and each student can purchase up to 8 items. We have items for kids, men, women, family and pets. Flyers were sent home on Friday. Please complete the shopping list and enclose it in an envelope along with their money and send it back in to school on their art day. There is an option to indicate if you’d like to make a donation to families who might not have the means for their child to shop. We are so excited to do this for the kids again this year!

Good Evening PR Family,

Don’t forget that students cannot be dropped off in the morning at the front doors after 8:55am without an adult signing them in at the front office.Thank you for helping us make sure our PR kiddos are safe! 

BUILD A BED 

In partnership with the United Way Build a Bed Program, we are currently taking applications for this year’s Build A Bed Program. If your child is in need of a bed, please email jspear@gccschools.com with your child’s name and teacher and an application will be sent home with your student. Applications must be received by December 20th! Please note that beds will not be ready for pickup until after February 8th. 

PTO NEWS 

PTO Meeting- Wednesday, December 11th at 6pm in the PR cafeteria. We will be collecting feedback on the Fall Festival, discussing holiday shop and assembling gifts. 

 Holiday Shop-  The Holiday Shop will be held December 16th-20th. Students will have the opportunity to shop for up to 8 people (and pets!) during their art special area. Friday will be a make up day for anyone who was absent earlier in the week. We will have items for men, women, kids, and pets. More information will be sent home after Thanksgiving break.

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and we look forward to seeing our students in the morning! 

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA! 

Mark your calendars for our upcoming Breakfast With Santa event which will take place on Saturday, December 7th from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. All 1st grade classes will be performing at the breakfast. Please have your student report to the music room at the assigned time for their class. Families will stay in the music room to hear some festive music! There is no specific dress for the event, but most students like to dress festively.

PTO Meeting- Our next PTO meeting will be Wednesday, December 11th at 6pm in the PR cafeteria. We will be collecting feedback on the Fall Festival, discussing holiday shop and assembling gifts. 

 Holiday Shop- Our annual Holiday Shop will be held December 16th-20th. Students will have the opportunity to shop for up to 8 people (and pets!) during their art special area. Friday will be a make up day for anyone who was absent earlier in the week. We will have items for men, women, kids, and pets. More information will be sent home after Thanksgiving break.

There is NO SCHOOL November 27th through November 29th for Thanksgiving Break. We hope that you all have a wonderful break and get to enjoy time with your families and friends! 

 

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA- 

Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Breakfast With Santa event which will take place on Saturday, December 7th from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. All 1st grade classes will be performing at the breakfast. Check the schedule below to see what times each performance will be! Breakfast with Santa

BUILD A BED 

In partnership with the United Way Build a Bed Program, we are currently taking applications for this year’s Build A Bed Program. If your child is in need of a bed, please email jspear@gccschools.com with your child’s name and teacher and an application will be sent home with your student. Applications must be received by December 20th! Please note that beds will not be ready for pickup until after February 8th.

Hello PR Family! 

Please keep in mind that during morning arrival the car rider line ends at 8:55 am. If you arrive after 8:55 students must be taken to the front of the building and walked into the school so that parents/guardians can sign them in. 

*If there are no adults on the sidewalk and the entry doors for the car rider line are closed students cannot be dropped off at the car rider entry doors. We appreciate your help in making sure students arrive safely to school. 

NO SCHOOL/PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES TUESDAY –This Tuesday, November 5th, there is NO SCHOOL for students because of election day. This day will be used for Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please contact your child’s teacher for a conference time if you have not already done so.

Please make sure to check out the Lost and Found located in the cafeteria and the front lobby after your child’s conference for any missing items that your student may have lost! 

PTO Fall Festival – This Friday, November 8, 2024 from 5-8 pm is the PTO Fall Festival! There will be lots of fun games, food, and an auction!
